Poppit Sands is a family and dog friendly beach in an idylic part of North Pembrokeshire, West Wales. The area is abundant with interesting wildlife with buzzards and kestrels and red kites frequently within 100 metres of the house. Dolphins and seals are often sighted in the bay.
Poppit Sands has a beautiful sandy beach at the mouth of the river Teifi. It has cliffs and rocks at one end with outstanding rock formations. There are also sand dunes at the back of the beach.
It is possible to launch dinghies from the beach. The coast is excellent for canoeing. When the surf is up, the waves are second to few; Kite flyers enjoy the space; Hang gliders sometimes land having taken off from Cemmaes head; Anglers spend many a happy hour fishing.
There is an excellent cafe by the car park across the road from the beach supplying home made cakes, sandwiches, baguettes, and cooked food – along with ice cream and buckets and spades.
There is RNLI Lifeguard coverage during the summer months.
There are a lot of interesting and fun places to visit, and activities to participate, in this lovely area of North Pembrokeshire:
